If you go past the Glacier Run construction, you will notice large big, blue tanks.
Just in case you were curious, these will be tanks filled with sand that will filter all the salt water that will be used in Glacier Run.
Glacier Run is a multi-faceted exhibit that is being build at the Louisville Zoo. Ultimately it will be home to seals, sea lions, polar bears, sea otters and Steller’s sea eagles. Modeled after an imaginary mining town located at the edge of the arctic wilderness the hallmarks of the exhibit will be the amazing animal habitats and the many opportunities for visitors to become immersed and actively involved in the exhibit experience. The seal and sea lion habitat is scheduled to open on June 30, 2010, with the the polar bear habitat slated for a 2011 opening.
Wouldn't those big blue tanks look amazing painted in zebra stripes, giraffe patterns or some other exotic zoo type designs? You could make it a design contest!
